Meet Our Coaches
   

Coach Chelsea

Chelsea began her career at Champion Gymnastics when she was 7 years old. We welcomed her as a coach at Champion when she was 16.  Chelsea has been coaching our recreation classes up to our Prep Optionals and Optionals teams.  Chelsea competed with the Champion Team through high school finishing her career at Level 9. She was able to receive training during this time at the Regional Gymnastics Congress.  Currently, Chelsea is attending the University of Michigan pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. In the future she plans on continuing her education to earn a Masters in Athletic Training. While not studying or in the gym, Chelsea enjoys playing board games and participating in various sports such as flag football and ultimate frisbee.

   
  

Coach Dan

Dan began gymnastics at 4 years of age.  He spent 14 years in club gymnastics with Conrads Gymnastics and Michigan Academy of Gymnastics.  Dan attended the Junior Olympic Nationals for 6 years and placed 4th on Vault in both 2003 and 2004.  After high school, Dan went on to attend the University of Michigan obtaining a degree in Liberal Arts.  While in attendance Dan became a member of the University of Michigan Men's Gymnastics team competing with them for 4 years.  Dan competed in the Big Ten and NCAA Championships placing 3rd on Vault in 2005 and has competed against the French National Team.  His strongest events included floor and high bar.  Dan has coached previously at the University of Michigan Gymnastics Camp and the International Gymnastics Camp.  He has coached various clinics throughout the state of Michigan and has coached club gymnastics for almost 3 years.  Dan also brings experience in summer child care with him from the Novi School district. We would like to welcome Dan to our team.

   
   

Coach Jessica

Jessica began gymnastics at 5 years old.  Competing up to level 7 with club gymnastics she finished her career on the Pioneer High School Gymnastics Team in Ann Arbor.  Her strongest events included bars and balance beam.  After graduating from Pioneer, Jessica went on to obtain a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan.  She taught 1st and 3rd grade for 4 years in Maryland and has been a Nanny for 2 years for children ages 2-6.  Jessica previously coached our pre team and level 5/6's  for 7 years. She accompanied Champion Gymnasts to the International Gymnastics Camp during her previous time with our gym. Jessica has also attended the National Gymnastics Congress in Philadelphia.   While not at the gym, Jessica enjoys listening to music and kayaking.  We are excited to welcome her back to our team.
   
   

Coach Kate

Kate brings a wide range of knowledge to our recreation program.  Before moving onto dance in High School, Kate finished as a Level 5 gymnast. As a first year gymnastics coach at Champion, Kate brings with her 4 years of coaching children of various ages in dance and movement. Kate is currently a first year student at Washtenaw Community College obtaining a degree in Elementary Education.

   
   
  

Coach Kristie

Kristie is our Recreational Gymnastics Director. With floor being her strongest event, Kristie finished her career as a Senior on her High School team. Kristie has attended clinics held by elite judges and various congresses keeping her up to date on the latest coaching strategies.  She has been coaching gymnastics since 1987.  Kristie works with all ages from parent involved classes up to Level 5 and 6. Kristie holds a Bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Education.  She has subbed in classrooms from Kindergarten up to 8th grade. When not in the gym coaching, Kristie enjoys scrapbooking.

   
   

Coach Lisa

Lisa began her gymnastics career at age 4.  Reaching level 9 Lisa's strongest events were bars and floor.  Lisa currently holds a Bachelors of Science in Political Science, English and Secondary Education.  She has been coaching for almost 5 years and has taught middle school and high school.  Lisa has been trained in Safety and Risk Management as well as Regional Congress. When not at the gym, Lisa enjoys Disc Golf and watching sports on TV.

   
   

 

Coach Maggie

Maggie works with our recreational a.m. classes. Maggie has been coaching at Champion Gymnastics for one year. Maggie draws on her dance and theater experience to make class fun and energetic for her students. For the past 10 years she has been working with children in theater, dance and music.  Maggie is currently obtaining a degree in Elementary Education. In her free time, Maggie enjoys bicycling, music and cooking.

   
   
   

Coach Nadia

Nadia began her gymnastics career at age 2.  Nadia competed through Level 9/10 placing in the top 50 All Around at the Level 9 USAG National Meet in North Carolina in 2004.  She then went on to win 2nd All Around at the Level 9 State Meet in Michigan in 2005.  Her strongest event was vault.  Nadia ended her career in 2005 and since then she has obtained a Bachelors degree at Western Michigan University in Advertising and Promotion.  She has coached at Michigan Academy of Gymnastics, Kids Gym and Branch Gymnastics in Kalamazoo. Nadia enjoys traveling, snowboarding and shopping!  We are excited to welcome her to the Champion Team!

   
   
   

Coach Rachel

Rachel finished her gymnastics career a Level 9 gymnast. She has been coaching for 9 years and holds a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. Rachel encourages hard work and team building.

   
   
   

Coach Renee

Renee works with our recreational classes in the evenings and has been coaching at Champion Gymnastics for one year bringing experience from previous coaching positions. Renee participated in gymnastics as a child and has continued to be very athletic throughout her life, including participation on the Eastern Michigan University Soccer Team.  She is currently finishing her degree at Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Special Education E.I.   

   
   
   

Coach Sarah

Sarah began gymnastics at age 3. Reaching level 10, she competed at the college level earning a full scholarship to Alaska. After competing for one year Sarah returned to Michigan where she obtained a cosmetic license through Aveda.  Sarah has been coaching team gymnastics for 4 years.   As one of our team coaches, Sarah encourages our teams to work hard and have fun.

   
   
   

Coach Susan

Finishing at Level 10 and achieving 3rd overall on bars at Nationals, Susan is a great new addition to Champion Gymnastics.  Nominated as Gymnast of the Year in 2003 by area coaches, Susan brings with her enthusiasm and excitement along with 8 years of coaching experience.  Currently Susan holds a degree in Occupational Therapy and is in the process of obtaining a degree in Nursing.
